SOLUTION :

GIVEN

Consider the triangle ABC

where m∠BCA = 90 degrees

AC = 1

BC = 1

TO DETERMINE

The length of AB

EVALUATION

It is given that in the triangle ABC , ∠BCA = 90°

So ABC is a right angled triangle with right angle at C

Now AC = 1 unit

BC = 1 unit

According to Pythagorean Theorem

 \sf{ {AB }^{2}  ={ BC}^{2} + {AC}^{2}  \:   \: }

  \implies\sf{ {AB }^{2}  ={(1)}^{2} + {(1)}^{2}  \:   \: }

  \implies\sf{ {AB }^{2}   = 1 + 1\:   \: }

  \implies\sf{ {AB }^{2} =   2  \:   \: }

  \implies\sf{ {AB } =  \sqrt{2}   \:   \: }

FINAL ANSWER

 \sf{ The \:  length \:  of  \: AB = \:  \:  \sqrt{2}  \: \:  \: unit }
