• The first movement in which Gandhiji got involved was at Champaran in Bihar

in 1917.

• It was against the low prices of indigo crops.

• Next campaign was against the low wages paid to the workers of the textile mills

in Ahmedabad against the mill owners.

• Then they went to kaira in Gujrat and spoke on the behalf of the peasants and

asked government to suspend tax collection because of crop failure.

The first movement in which gandhiji got involved was at champagn in Bihar in 1917. Here, peasents on the indigo at prices fixed by the European planters... In 1918, Gandhiji led the workers of the textile mills in Ahmedabad against the mill owners. Ultimately, the mill-owners had to raise the the wages of the workers.
