_________
Answers
Explanation:
Absorption is the process by which nutrient molecules are taken into the cells of a living organism.
PROCESS
☆ Absorption takes place in small intestine. There is no absorption in mouth and very little occurs in stomach. The presence of villi on the inner surface area of the small intestine and microvilli on the free surface of the intestinal epithelial cells considerably enhance the absorptive capacity of the small intestine.
☆ The absorbed food, brought to the liver is diverted to various metabolic channels to reach each and every cell of the body, where it is utilised for obtaining energy, building up new tissues and repair of old tissues. However, a portion of absorbed food is stored in the liver and other tissues for emergency.
