QUESTION : how many litres of water will flow out of a pipe that has an area of cross section 15 CM² in 5 minutes if the speed of water in that pipe is 40 cm per second.

so Volume of water discharged is = speed of water flow x cross-section


so cross-section area (A) = 15 cm²


speed (S) = 5m/s = 40 cm/s


so A x S =   600cm³/s


so the volume of water discharged in cm³/s = 600 cm³/sec


so 1000 cm³ = 1 L


so 1600 cm³ = 600/1000 = 6 L 


so flow in L/s is 6 Litre /s
