Question :-

1. Write the following statements as an equation:

(a) A number added to 10 gives -13

(b) Twice a number is 10

(c) A number subtracted from 13 gives -15

(d) Twice a number added to -15 gives 43

(e) Seven times a number added to twice of the same number gives -90

(f) Four fifth of a number is 7.

(g) The quotient of twice a number and the number decreased by 2 is 5

(h) Take away 5 from 3 times a number, you get -10

(i) Add 5 to one-fifth of the number, you get 16

Solution :-

Assume the number to be x in each case

(a) x + 10 = -13

(b) 2x = 10

(c) 13 - x = -15

(d) 2x + (-15) = 43

(e) 7x + 2x = -19

(f) 4/5x = 7

(g) 2x/(x-2) = 5

(h) 3x - 5 = 7

(I) 1/5x + 5 = 16
