 \LARGE{ \underline{ \bf{Required \: answer:}}}

GiveN Condition:

  • A no. is as much greater than 15 as it is less than 51.

What we have to do?

  • We have to find the no.?

Solution:

Let the number be x.

Then, according to question, the value obtained by subtracting 15 from x will be equals to the value obtained by subtracting x from 51.

That is,

⇒ x - 15 = 51 - x

⇒ 2x = 66

⇒ x = 33

Quick check:

  • 33 - 15 = 18
  • 51 - 33 = 18

Condition satisfied !!!

Hence,

The required number is:

 \huge{ \boxed{ \sf{ \red{33}}}}

Question

A number is as much greater than 15 as it is less than 50. Find the number.

Solution

Let, the number be x

A number greater than 15 = x+15

A number less than 51 = 51-x

ATP

x+15 = 51-x

=) x+x = 51-15

=) 2x = 36

=) x = 36/2 = 18

Verified ✔️✔️

18+15 = 33

51-18 = 33

An equation is a statement that two expressions are equal. It may involve one or more than one variables. Thus, 2x-1 = 9 , x²-3x+2 = 0 are equations in one variable and 5x-7y = 3 , x²+3xy+5y² = 4 are equations in two variables.

An equation of the type ax+b = ,0 where a not equals to zero, is called a linear equation in the variable x. Thus, 2x-1 = 9 is a linear equation in the variable x.
