ANSWER

Given

h=5m

e=\frac{1}{2}

Let, t be the time taken by ball  to fall from height h and t  ′   be the time taken by ball  to come to rest.

The time taken by ball  to fall from height h is

t=\sqrt{\frac{2h}{g} }

t=\sqrt{\frac{(2)(5)}{10}

t=1sec

Now,  the time taken by ball  to come to rest is

t^{'} =t[\frac{1+e}{1-e} ]

t^{'} = (1)[\frac{1+\frac{1}{2} }{1-\frac{1}{2} } ]

t^{'}=\frac{\frac{3}{2} }{\frac{1}{2} }

t′  =3sec
