it was France who gained a major part of Germany after the first world war.Tthe German territory to the west of Rhine was to be occupied by the allied troops for 15 years . Germany lost Alsace-Lorraine to france and schleswig to Denmark. coal mines in saar,Germany were given to France for 15 years. German lost her all overseas colonies to the victorious nations.

The Central Powers possessed colonies before the great war and post war, they have lost them to the allied powers. Allied powers already had huge colonies and they possessed them as it is, and moreover they also gained colonies from Germany, many of them were occupied during the war itself and were divided among the entente , post war. Togoland, Kamerun(Now Cameroon),German South-West Africa(Now Namibia), German East Africa, German New Guinea, Western Samoa, Port of Qingdao was invaded by Japan. All of these colonies were distributed among The Allied Powers and Germany was left with no colonies....
