what is meant by reserved constituencies? justify the concept of reservation of seats' by giving any three suitable orguments

krithi2001143: reservations are completely wrong as they suppress the talents of students who are not in the reservation. Very often, it so happens that the student with reservation may get very low marks and be selected whereas the student without any reservation may get very high marks and not be selected..
krithi2001143: even i experienced it
krithi2001143: i hate reservation
krithi2001143: its stupid

In India, a certain number of political positions and university posts are held for specific groups of the population, including Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Anglo-Indians and Women. There are reserved constituencies in both Parliamentary and State Assembly elections.

Candidates of General category are not eligible to contest from these constituencies. All voters are to vote for one of the candidates (from Scheduled Castes or Schedule Tribes). ... Reserved constituencies are those constituencies in which seats are reserved for SCs and STs on the basis of their population.

The 15th Lok Sabha will have 11 more reserved seats for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The number of total seats, however, will remain 543. The number of constituencies reserved for Scheduled Castes has increased from 79 to 84 after the delimitation of the constituencies.
