Given :

Mass of the organic compound taken = 0.301 g

Mass of Silver bromide (AgBr) formed = 0.3066 g

To Find :

Percentage of bromine in the compound.

Solution :

We know, 1 mol of AgBr = 1 gram atom of Br

or,             188 g of AgBr = 80 g of Br

i.e., 188 g of AgBr contain = 80 g of Br

∴ 0.3066 g of AgBr contain = \frac{80}{188} × 0.3066 g of Bromine

This amount of Bromine is present in 0.301 g of organic Compound.

∴ Percentage of Bromine = \frac{80}{188} × \frac{0.3066}{0.301} × 100

                                          = 43.34%

∴ The percentage of Bromine in the organic compound is 43.34%.

The correct option is (D) 43.34%
