We have to find the speed of sound.
Here,
- When The man fires a gun, sound he should hear sound at once but he hears two times.
- because sound wave travels towards the hill and gets reflected and again moves towards the very man, so man hears once more gun sound. It is known as echo.
Now Speed of sound can be found by,
- Speed of sound = 2 × distance between man and hill/time interval of two sounds.
distance between man and hill = 300 m
time interval of two sounds = 2 sec
∴ Speed of sound = (2 × 300)/2 = 300 m/s
Therefore the speed of sound in m/s is 300.
