Answer:

Given:

It is given that the distance between two stations is 300km. And the speed of one motorcyclist is 7km/hr, more than that of the other. The distance between them after 2 hours from their start is 34km.

To Find:

We need to find the speed of each motorcyclist.

Solution:

Let the speed of one motorcyclist be xkm/hr.

Now, as it is given that the speed of one motorcyclist is 7km/hr, more than that of the other so, the speed of other motorcyclist will be (x+7)km/hr.

After two hours, the speed of one motorcycle will be 2x and that if other would be 2(x+7) = 2x + 14.

Now, by question

2x + 2x + 14 + 34 = 300

4x + 14 + 34 = 300

4x + 48 = 300

4x = 300 - 48

4x = 252

x = 252/4

x = 63

Therefore the speed of first motorcycle is x = 63km/hr and the speed of other motorcycle is (x+7) = (63 + 7) = 70km/hr.
