Given : Expression 4.035 (bar in 35)

To find : Express the expression in p/q form?

solution :

let the no. be x = 4.0353535.. .......(1)

the periodicity in the no. is 2.

so, multiply equation (1) by 100,

100x = 403.53535............(2)

subtract equation (1) from (2),

100x - x = (403.53535..) - (4.0353535..)

99x = 3999.5

x = 399.5 upon 99

x = 799 upon 198

therefore, the p/q form of the no. 4.035

(bar in 35) is 799 upon 198
