Question :-

Solve : - \\ \\ \frac{5x - 1}{4} - 2 = \frac{5x - 3}{8}

Given :-

 \frac{5x - 1}{4} - 2 = \frac{5x - 3}{8}

To Find :-

The value of x

Solution :-

 \frac{5x - 1}{4} - 2 = \frac{5x - 3}{8} \\  \\  \longrightarrow \:  \frac{5x - 1}{4}  - 2 =  \frac{5x - 3}{8}  \\  \\  \longrightarrow \:  \frac{5x - 1}{4}  -  \frac{2}{1}  =  \frac{5x - 3}{8}

LCM of 4, 1, 8 = 8

So, multiplying both sides of the equation by 8,

we get :

8( \frac{5x - 1}{4} ) - 8(2) = 8( \frac{5x - 3}{8} ) \\  \\  \rightarrow \: 2(5x - 1) - 16 = 5x - 3 \\  \\  \rightarrow \: 10x - 2 - 16 = 5x - 3 \\  \\  \rightarrow \: 10x - 18 = 5x - 3 \\  \\  \rightarrow \: 10x - 5x =  - 3 + 18 \\  \\  \rightarrow \: 5x = 15 \\  \\  \rightarrow \:x =  3
