Question:-

The circumference of the base of a cylinder is 88 cm and its height is 60 cm. Find the volume of the cylinder and its curved surface area.

Solution:-

It is given in the question that ,

Circumference of the base of the cylinder= 88 cm

Height of the cylinder= 60 cm

Hence,

Curved surface area = Circumference× height

= 88 × 60

= 5280 cm^2

Now,

The circumference of the base = 2πr =88 cm

Hence radius of the base (r)= 88/2π

  = \frac{8 \times 7}{2 \times 22}

=44 cm

Hence,

Volume of the cylinder = πr^2h

 =  \frac{22}{7}  \times  {14}^{2} \times 60 \\  = 22 \times 2 \times 14  + \times 60 \\  = 36960 {cm}^{3}
