QUESTION:- The length and the breadth of a rectangular field are in the ratio 5 : 3. If its perimeter is 128 m, find the dimensions of the field.

ANSWER:- Ratios = 5:3 (5x , 3x)

Perimeter=128

Formula= 2( l + b)

so,

2(5x + 3x) = 128 \\  \\ 10x + 6x = 128 \\  \\ 16x = 128 \\  \\ x =  \frac{128}{16}  \\  \\ x = 8 \\  \\ now \:  \:  \\  \\ 5x = 5(8) = 40 \:  \: cm \\  \\ 3(8) = 24 \:  \: cm \:

Given

  • Length and the Breadth = 5:3
  • Perimeter is 128 m

Explanation

Let the Length and Breadth of the Rectangular field be 5x and 3x Respectively.

We also Know that:-

 \maltese {\pmb{\boxed{\sf{ Perimeter_{(Rectangle)} = 2(l+b) }}}} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 2(5x+3x) }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 2(8x) }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 2 \times 8x }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ \cancel{128} = \cancel{16} x }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ x = 8 }} \\

Hence,

  • Length = 5x = 5×8 = 40 metres
  • Breadth = 3x = 3×8 = 24 metres

 \\ \maltese \ {\large{\pmb{\underline{\sf{ Verification: }}}}} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 2(5 \times 8+3 \times 8) }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 2(40+24) }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 2(64) }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\sf{ 128 = 128 }} \\ \\ \\ \colon\implies{\large{\pmb{\sf\purple{ LHS = RHS }}}} \\
