Question :

Two cars 1000 kilogram each are travelling with speeds of 108 km/h and 72 km/h respectively.

a) what are the Kinetic energies?

b) if there engines are simultaneously switched off which will travel greater distance if the retarding force acting upon them is same.

c) what will be the work done in each case?

Solution :

Given :

M1 = M2 = 1000 kg

Then , we can find their initial kinetic energies by using the formula :

½mu² (u = Initial velocity)

Then we can compare their energies to find out which will travel more.

Also , we can find the work done in each case.
