Given : Two numbers are in the ratio 6:8. If 16 is added to each number their ratio become 8:10.

Need to find : The Numbers

❍ Let's Consider that the numbers are 6x and 8x respectively.

T H E R E F O R E,

⤳  [ 6x + 16 ]/[ 8x + 16 ] = 8/10

⤳  10[ 6x + 16 ] = 8[ 8x + 16 ]

⤳  60x + 160 = 64x + 128

⤳  64x - 60x = 160 - 128

⤳  4x = 32

⤳  x = 32/4

⤳  x = 8

Henceforth,

• The number 6x = { 6 × 8 } = 48
• The number 8x = { 8 × 8 } = 64

⤳  48 + 16/ 64 + 16 = 8/10
