Given :  use the whole numbers from 6 to 10 exactly once in the following outer circle

total along each line is 23

To Find : Fill the numbers

Solution:

            C

   A       E         B

             D

Let say number filled are

A , B , C , D and  E

E is in center

A and B are opposite

C  & D  are opposite

Sum  A +  E  + B  = 23

        C +  E  + D  = 23

Adding both

A + B + C + D + E  + E  = 46

A + B + C + D + E   = 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10  =  40

=> 40 + E = 46

=> E = 6

A +  E  + B  = 23 => A + B = 17

C +  E  + D  = 23 => C + D  = 17

17 can be obtained as  8 + 9  or  7 + 10

             7

   8        6         9

             10
