Soil:-

the uppermost layer of earth crust which is useful for cultivation of agriculture is called soil

Alluvial soil:-

  • 1). This is also known as clay or loamy soil
  • 2). Is light brown in colour and found up to 490 metres depth
  • 3).this soil is generally deficient in nitrogen phosphorus and you must but rich in potash and lime
  • 4). This Soil consists of fine sand clay and loamy particles
  • 5). 40% of total area of country

Black soil:-

  • 1). This soil is also known as regur and black cotton soil
  • 2). It is dark black in colour and made up of finely grained particles
  • 3). They retain moisture for a long time
  • 4).They are generally deficient in nitrogen phosphorus and Dumas but rich in potash lime magnesium aluminium and iron
  • 5). It is suitable for cotton and cereals.

Red soil:-

  • 1). Red soil is formed due to weathering of igneous and metamorphic rocks
  • 2). Is highly porous and less fertile but where it is dip it is fertile
  • 3).It is less crystalline
  • 4). It is red in colour due to presence of iron in it.
  • 5). Bajra crop is grown in this soil

Laterite soil:-

  • 1). Types of soil is formed by the leaching process in the heavy rainfall areas of tropical India
  • 2). It is less fertile only grass can grown on it.
  • 3). It is crystalline
  • 4).it is red in colour due to little clay and much gravel of red sandstone5). This soil is suitable for rice, cotton, wheat, cereals etc
