Definition of a "Word" :

    A word is a single letter of the alphabet or a collection of letters giving a proper and definable meaning. They are used to make meaningful sentences by putting them together in well order. Under Parts of Speech section, you will get examples.

Parts of Speech :

    While speaking, we express ourselves in various manners with different words or phrases. Depending on the meaning and uses of words, words are classified into 8 parts of speech.

Noun - a word that defines any name, e.g., Ram, the Tajmahal, the Ganges, Mumbai, etc.

Pronoun - a word which replaces the repetitive use of nouns, e.g., I, me, my, you, he, she, it, they, us, etc.

Verb - a word which states any action or the tendency of action, e.g., do, eat, say, write, etc.

Adverb - a word that tells the mode of the action, e.g., slowly, easily, happily, etc.

Adjective - a word which provides the characteristics of any object or of the subject, e.g., hot, cold, brilliant, etc.

Preposition - a word or a collection of words that states the position of the object or of the noun, e.g., up, down.

Conjunction - a word that connects two or more objects or phrases, sentences, e.g., and, or, but, etc.

Interjection - a word that expresses the joys, sorrows or emotional state of the noun or the subject, e.g., alas, hurray, etc.

Now, we are going into other field as well so that the concept of "WORD" can be broadened.

Positive words or words of motivations :

    The words which give a proper subjection towards good deeds for the listener, reader or the observer and from which the essence of positivity spreads into mind leading someone to some good deeds.

  • I believe in you that you can do better.

  • You have to be happy to the lot you get or you are given.

Negative words or words of demotivations :

    The words of demotivations are mostly spoken by broken people or people with more negativity as they try to define with facts or reasons behind their own comprehension.

  • You cannot do it because you are so weak.

  • You look so stupid to be there.

1)It can be seen as an single element of an writing which has its own meaning and it's meaning in a sentence or writing is taken according to the situation the sentence points at.

2)It can be a called as an smallest unit of an sentence which on joining in an correct and unique sequence gives sentence a definite meaning

Now,according to Grammer there are 8 parts or classes of a word(Parts of speech)=>

1)Noun

-It is commonly known as an naming word.

-It is used to name other things such as car, bike, mountains etc.

-It has mainly 5 sub parts=>

a)Common Noun

=Noun which is used for a common name given to a category.

examples=>car, bus,bird etc.

b)Proper Noun

=It is noun which is used for a specific group or category.

example=>Mango,Ice cream etc.

c)Abstract Noun

=Used for nouns which has no physical existence and are not concrete.

examples=>love, happiness etc.

d)Collective Noun

=Used for a group or collection on things.

examples=>Army, flock etc

e)Concrete Noun

=Used for the nouns which refer to people and things that exist physically and that at least one of the senses can detect.

example=>ball,water,sock etc.

2)Pronoun

-It is basically used to replace the noun on repeatation by noun.

-It makes the sentence sound better.

example=>I,me, they etc.

-It has 6 types=>

a)Personal pronouns (e.g., he, they)

-There are two kinds: subjective and objective pronouns.

-They are used to substitute the name of an person.

b)Demonstrative pronouns (e.g., this, these)

-They take the place of a noun that's already been mentioned. They can be singular or plural.

c)Interrogative pronouns (e.g., which, who)

-They work in sentences that are posing a question.

d)Indefinite pronouns (e.g., none, several)

-They don't point to particular nouns.They are used when an object doesn't need to be specifically identified.

e)Possessive pronouns (e.g., his, your)

-They show ownership or possession of a noun.

-there are also independent possessive pronouns as they stand alone and are not followed by any noun. These pronouns refer to a previously named or understood noun.

f)Reciprocal pronouns (e.g., each other, one another)

-It is used to indicate that two or more people are carrying out or have carried out an action of some type, with both receiving the benefits.

3)ADJECTIVE

- It is a Describing word.

-It is used to describe a noun or pronoun.

example=>little man, pink colour etc

4)VERB

- It is called Action Word.

-A verb shows an action or state of being. A verb shows what someone or something is doing or was doing.

example=>Play,read,write etc.

5)ADVERB

- It is used to Describes a verb.

-An adverb describes or modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.

example=>usually,quickly etc.

6)PREPOSITION

- It is used to Shows relationship between two words.

-It can indicate time,place etc.

example=>near, between etc.

7)CONJUNCTION

- It is known as Joining word.

-It can join two or more sentences,words etc.

example=>or, but etc.

8)INTERJECTION

-It is also called Expressive word.

-It is used to describe a strong or sudden feeling,emotion etc.

-It is always preceded by an exclamatory sign.
