We know that angle DCE = angle ACB ( vertically opposite angles )

So, angle DCE = x = 60⁰

Now, angle ABC + x + y = 180⁰ ( angle sum property of a triangle )

So, 40⁰ + 60⁰ + y = 180⁰

y = 180⁰ - 100⁰ = 80⁰

Hence, x = 60⁰ & y = 80

Answer:

x=60° (vertically opposite angle)

y=80°

Step-by-step explanation:

x+y+40°=180° (Angle Sum Property)

60°+y+40°=180°

100°+y=180°

y=180°-100°

y=80°
