Newton's first law of motion states that if a body is moving at a constant repetition speed- it will remain at rest or keep moving in a straight line at a constant speed unless interupted by another force.

Example:

Take the motion of an airplane as an example. When the pilot changes the throttle setting of the engine- it is described by the first law. The motion of a ball falling down, or a model rocket being launched up into the atmosphre are both examples of Newton's first law.
