Bauakas, an Algerian king wanted to confirm the presence of a just-judge, who was residing in one of his cities.

This is a part of a story- “A Just Judge" by Leo Tolstoy from Fables and Fairytales which illustrates the following characteristics of a judge:

• very well known for instantly perceiving the truth,

• giving a fair judgement without being biased, and

• being able to uncover a secret rogue

To confirm these characteristics of the judge, Bauakas exchanged clothes with one of the merchants, in order to hide his identity, and went on a horse to meet the judge.
