Contribution of youngsters in making road safe

Youngsters are the future of the world. They should be involved in all the campaigns aiming to bring safety, prosperity, and security in the world. Road safety has emerged as one of the most arduous challenges. With the number of road accidents increasing alarmingly, the road safety measures have become indispensable. According to Road Accident Statistics India 1214 road crashes occur every day in India. 20 children under the age of 14 die every day due to road crashes in the country. One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 people die on Indian roads every hour.

Keeping in mind the shocking statistics, it becomes imperative to involve youngsters in road safety programmes at schools and colleges. Schools and colleges must make road safety measures an integral part of curriculum. The traffic police must give training of road safety measures to students. They can be taken to road safety learning parks and trained there. Only trained and well-informed youngsters can contribute to making roads safe and secure.

They must be taught good driving skills along with tolerant traffic attitude. At schools and colleges road safety weeks and days should be observed. Road safety seminars, workshops, and other similar programmes should be conducted. They must be shown the differences between good driving model and bad driving model. They must be taught that driving on roads is not fun or a child’s play. One must be totally prepared and trained to go on roads.

Parents must be included in the road safety programmes. They must be taught not to give vehicles to their children. The traffic police must organize vehicle training sessions in schools. The students must be given demonstrations on safe driving skills. With these programmes and training sessions, blended with their energy and enthusiasm, road safety can be maximized. They won’t only become good drivers on the road, but also ensure their parents, friends, and relatives follow the road safety rules and regulations on the road too. Thus, youngsters can really contribute a lot in making the roads safe not only in India, but across the world.

Youth - Its Role in Making Roads Safe

In the present times, the term 'Roadrage' has become so common and the data reveals the number of accidents on roads is on an increase. The data warns us to be careful on roads. Traffic and safety rules are to be followed for one's own safety and there is no reason that one must overlook them. All we need is a stringent implementation of the rules and awareness among all citizens.

India is said to be a 'Young Nation' and the youth stands as its strength. Our youth can very well shoulder this responsibility. First of all, by following the rules themselves and secondly by seeing that it happens. They can be a part of awareness campaign conducted in schools and colleges. Moreover, they can volunteer themselves, as part of Community Service, and help manage traffic during occasions of heavy traffic like Republic Day Parade or Ramlila Celebration during Dussehra days.

The youth is always an asset of a nation and it has to prove so by contributing to solving problems that people face. Besides, this life is valuable and no one can afford to end it in the name of road rage or carelessness while on road.
