(Questions 1 - 5) Read the following passage.

A major component of Malaysia’s war against drugs is the treatment and rehabilitation programme

for addicts. Under Malaysian law an addict is one who tests positive for dependency on drugs in a

medical examination and may not be in possession of drugs. The tests are ordered by the police or

rehabilitation officers who are empowered to stop anyone whom they suspect of being a drug user.

Rehabilitation of addicts is compulsory. It varies from 2 years in an institution or for first time

offenders, under supervision by officers.

For the first two weeks the addict is detoxified by the doctor and is thereafter considered drug free

and fit for rehabilitation. The first goal of the regimen is to get the ex-addicts back into good physical

condition. This is done by giving them military-type training. The ultimate goal is to turn drug abusers

into productive citizens and the inmates learn how to form, develop skills for livelihood and attend

regular counselling sessions.

The movement is supported by the preventive-education effort in schools and is complemented by

parental and community programmes.

Now, answer the following questions. Each question has four choices. Choose the
