1. An object has moed through a
distance. Can it have zero
displacement? If yes, support
gour anster with an example,
2 A farmer moves along the
boundary of a square field of side
20 min 40s. What will be the
magnitude of displacement of the
Jammer at the end of minutes 20
seconds from his initial position?

Answer:

1)If yes support your answer with an example. Answer: Yes, the object instead of moving through a distance can have zero displacement. Example: If an object travels from point A and reaches to the same point A, then its displacement is zero.

2)Farmer takes 40 s to move along the boundary. Thus, after 3.5 round farmer will at point C of the field. Thus, after 2 min 20 seconds the displacement of farmer will be equal to 14.14 m north east from initial position.

Speed = Distance / Time: Velocity = Displacement / Time

Speed: Velocity

3)(a) The first statement is false as the displacement can be zero in the case where initial and final positions are common. (b) The magnitude of displacement can never be greater than the distance travelled by the object it is either equal or smaller. So, the second statement is also false.
