1. The period of transition from childhood to adulthood is called adolescene.
Additionally-
- The age group between ages 10 to 19 is defined as adolescent.Adolescents are also called teenagers.
2.Puberty is the process of physical changes by which boy's or girl's body attains maturity and becomes capable of sexual reproduction.
3.Changes takes place during puberty in boys and girls-
In boys-
- Height increases.
- Beard appears on the face.
- The shoulders become broad and the body muscles develop at a fast rate.
- Hairs appear in the armpit,chest and the pubic region.
- Sex organs like testes and penis develop properly.
In girls-
- Height increases.
- The voice becomes high pitched.
- Hips become broad and the pelvic region becomes wide.
- Breasts develop and become large.
- Ovaries inlarge and menstrual cycles starts.
- Hairs in armpits and pubic region develop.
4.Characteristics of harmones-.
- They are released fom the endocrine glands directly into the bloodstream.
- Harmones act on specific tissues or organs which are called target organs.
- They act at a site different from where the released.
- They coordinate a number of body activities and are responsible for growth.
