  1. A chemical substance is a form of matter having constant chemical composition and characteristic properties. Some references add that chemical substance cannot be separated into its constituent elements by physical separation methods, i.e., without breaking chemical bonds.

2. List of differences between homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures:

Homogenous Mixture Heterogeneous mixture

They have uniform compositions , They have non-uniform compositions.

The components of homogeneous mixtures are not physically distinct., They have no visible boundaries of separation between the constituents.

They have no visible boundaries of separation between the constituents,

They have visible boundaries of separation between the constituents.

Examples: Alloys, Solution of salts in water etc. Examples: Mixture of sand and common salt, Mixture of sand and water etc.
