Identify and chase your passion since early age .Born in a family of volleyball players ,Sindhu s got inspiration from her coach Pullela Gopichand's win in 2001 All England Badminton Championship and chose Badminton over Volleyball. She started her training in Badminton at an early age of 8.Parents should let their children choose their career made with passion.Sindhu scripted history by being the youngest Indian and first Indian woman to win the silver medal in Olympics. Behind Sindhu’s performance at the Rio, there is the hard work and sacrifice of her parents. If her parents said “My daughter will be a doctor/engineer/ housewife” or “sports ain’t for girls” , history would be different.Indian women are not meant to do only household chores.I'll let the medals speak here.Any Arjun is incomplete without his Dronacharya. Here the inspiration, the mentor , the man behind the success is the unsung hero, Pullela Gopichand.Read his sacrifice here The life and times of Pullela GopichandPractice is a talent. Perseverance is a talent. Hard work is a talent. She used to travel more than 50 kilometers everyday to get to her training centre in Hyderabad. Her practice session used to start at 4 a.m. She pushes herself to the limit, challenging her to stretch herself higher and move with greater and greater speed and agility and flexibility. Her favourite foods, chocolates and Hyderabadi biryani, have been banned. Her phone was even taken away by her strict coach.Hard work + Passion= SuccessP. V. Sindhu, a name unheard and unfamiliar to most of the Indians four days ago, a name whom probably no one imagined to be in the badminton final became The First Indian Woman to win an Olympic Silver medal. The first Indian to win a silver in Badminton. The Youngest Indian (at the age of 21) to bag a medal at Olympic singles. Sindhu proved, “The path from dreams to success does exist”, the path is made of talent, determination, hard work and passion.Respect for the game and the opponents:Amidst of disappointment for not winning the gold Sindhu walks up to Carolina , raised her up, hugged her and congratulated. She noticed Marin's racquet lying on the ground. She picked it up and laid it by the side next to Marin's bag. A simple gesture. Sindhu didn't have to do it, many don't. But it was a mark of a sportsman who clearly loves her game and respects the opponent which will be etched in the memory of the viewers for a long long time.People are selfish.People are selfish by nature, we Indians have mastered the skill. The same people who are worshipping her like God today, are going to discard her tomorrow if she fails to come to their expectation. They are praising her not because of the person she is. They are praising because she has made them happy as Indian without actually doing anything at all by them. If she lets them down tomorrow, they shall curse her in the same vein, like they are demeaning Saina Nehwal today.Indians have short memory .As of now, she has got us a medal so she’s being lauded with accolades from BMW to Rs 2.05 crore and land. If she performs badly in the next Olympics, people are sure to forget this medal and term her as a “failure”. The memory of people is quite short and it is only limited to at the most for a few days.I do hope Sindhu doesn’t take the adulation and accolades to her heart and set the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal as the bull’s eye.
