Spam is the use of messaging service over internet to send unwanted, unnecessary messages repeatedly. Most of the spamming is done for advertising. Spamming is a process or activity in which lots of unwanted messages are sent to user through messaging service or mail. Spamming is either done by Humans or Automated bots.

The most recognized type of spamming is through e-mail. In spamming messages, Most of the common messages are of TV advertisement, Website advertisement, Product advertisement, Frauds etc. This type of messages are created by Humans. Humans send this messages as mails. Later, Bots perform their work for spamming Millions of mails at same time.

• Spamming is mostly done in: E-mails, Blogs, Websites, Web search engines, Internet groups, forums, mobile phone messaging etc.
• The e-mail spam is also called as Unsolicited Bulk Mail (UBM). E-mail spamming is the most common type of spamming.
• According to report in 2017, Almost 80-90% mails we receive are spam mails.
• Spamming is also done with Instant messaging service at large number. Various instant messaging service and phone messaging feature users have to face the problem related to spamming.
• Study conducted last year suggests that, 13.7% of spam volume on the internet is from only country India. Spam volume of Russia is 9% which is 2nd most after India.

What steps should be taken to stop spams:

• In order to stop spams, We must start it from ourselves. We should not give our Phone number, E-mail ID, Social ID etc to any unknown person.
• A big step to stop spam can be taken by Mail and instant messaging service providers. This providers should make inbuilt feature of blocking spam messages. This would automatically block spam messages.
• The government of country should take the step against the spammers. This will help the internet users a lot.
• If we receive any unwanted message or any request through messaging service, we should not open and view it.
• We should not download any file that we have received through spammers. This files may have viruses which can stole our all information.
