It reacts with water and forms calcium hydroxide and heat

it is an exothermic reaction and does the formation of calcium hydroxide take place. When Calcium oxide i.e. quick lime is added to water filled in a bucket, it reacts vigorously with water to produce slaked lime (calciumhydroxide) releasing a large amount of heat
