Therefore, we have,

x = 7 - 4 = 3 feet is covered for every 11 seconds

3 feet = 11 seconds

21 feet = 77 seconds

So, after 77 seconds, he will be 21 feet away from the initial position.

Thus he will take 77 seconds to fall in the hole.
