Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the monkey has to climb a 100 cm tree.

Now, he takes 3 steps forward and 2 steps back.

Each forward step is 30 cm and each backward step is 40cm.

Now, let's sum up the total distances and steps.

Backward = 40 cm × 2 = 80 cm

Forward = 30 cm × 3 = 90 cm.

Now, actually he steps back, so we have to subtract the forward from backwards' step.

= 90 cm - 80 cm.

= 10 cm.

Now, it takes each step of 30 cm each ( given in the question)

So, further he will be at :-

10 + 90 = 100 cm.

Already, the monkey has crossed 100 cm above.

So, we got it as :-

3 + 2 + 3

= 8 steps is the required answer .

★ A monkey is trying to climb a coconut tree.

★ He takes 3 steps forward and slips back 2 steps downward

★ Each forward step is 30 cm and each backward step is 40 cm.

★ How many steps are required to climb a 100 cm tree?

{\underline{\large{\pmb{\sf{Understanding \; the \; question...}}}}}

☀️ Concept : here a monkey tries to climb up a tree of 100 cm. while doing this for every 3 steps he take he slips back 2 steps. His every forward step is 30 cm and every backward step is 40 cm.

❍ Now, let's find the distance he travels and find out that how many steps will the monkey need to take to climb the tree accordingly.

{\underline{\large{\pmb{\sf{Solution...}}}}}

★ The monkey will take 30 steps in total to climb the tree

{\underline{\large{\pmb{\sf{Full \; Solution...}}}}}

★ Firstly let's find the distance travelled by the monkey in every three steps.

➞ Since we know that,

  • Every forward step covers 30cm

So,

  • The distance covered in every 3 steps will be,

➟ 30cm × 3

➟ 90cm

\therefore he covers 90cm for 3 steps

But,

  • Since we know that he slips back 2 steps after he covers 3 steps

~ So, let's find the distances he slips back after taking every 3 steps

➞ We know that,

  • The distance covered for every  1 step backward = 40cm

So,

  • The distance covered for every 2 steps backward will be

➟ 40cm × 2

➟ 80cm

Then,

  • The distance travelled by the monkey for every 3 steps will be

➟ 90cm - 80cm

10cm

  • Henceforth the distance covered by the monkey for  5 steps will be 10cm

~ then the monkey would take his next tree steps which would make the monkey a distance of 90m and, as in further he has covered a distance of 10m.

So,

  • The distance covered by him will be

➟ 10m + 90m

100m

~As he covered 100 m there will be no more steps required for him to clim the tree as he already reached the top.

Thereby,

  • Steps he took to climb the tree are

➟ 3 + 2 +3 steps

➟ 5 + 3 steps

8 steps

  • Henceforth he took 8 steps to climb the tree

TheMoonlìghtPhoenix: For 3 steps, he will take 3*30 = 90 cm, not 10 cm
TheMoonlìghtPhoenix: And 10 cm is the mean step ie 90 - 80.
