We have long list of incidents which proved disastrous due to environmental pollution.  

Some of them are listed below:

1. Bhopal gas tragedy: It released a harmful toxic gas methyl isocyanate in the air at the “Union Carbide pesticide plant” in Bhopal.  
2. “Gulf of Mexico oil spill”: It happened on April 20, 2010, in the Gulf of Mexico which was the “largest marine oil spill”.  
3. Minamata disease in Japan: It was a ‘neurological syndrome’ which was caused by Hg poisoning.
