i dont know ..but the reason fir this layout is that if they write in nornal way like a,b,c,d there may be a chance of keyboard button getting damaged matlab fast typing se jaam ho jaye

Designed by Christopher Sholes, who invented the typewriter, the QWERTY arrangement was organized to prevent people from typing too fast and jamming the mechanical keys. The QWERTY layout was included in the drawing for Sholes' patent application in 1878.

The QWERTY layout was devised and created in the early 1870s by Christopher Latham Sholes, a newspaper editor and printer who lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In October 1867, Sholes filed a patent application for his early writing machine he developed with the assistance of his friends Carlos Glidden and Samuel W. Soule.
The first model constructed by Sholes used a piano-like keyboard with two rows of characters arranged alphabetically as shown below
