Mobile phone use in schools by students has become a controversial topic debated by parents and teachers. Parents who support the use of cell phones believe that these phones are essential for safety by allowing children to communicate with their parents and guardians. Opponents of students using mobile phones during school believe that mobile phones cause disruption and may be used inappropriately such as by cheating on tests, taking inappropriate photographs,[1] and playing mobile games. Rather than paying attention to teachers, students are spending more time distracted by their phones.
Video games are designed for relaxation. They give people a chance to escape from their busy, stressful and routine lives. When people say playing video games is a waste of time, they are referring to those who play all day or all night long. This is a waste of time.
The old days…Back in the early 1980’s and before, people had answering machines on their land line phones. Someone would call you and leave a message. You would check your messages when you got home. Pagers were also popular starting in the late 1980’s. If you were out, people would page you and you found a payphone or used a landline if you were at work or a friend’s house and returned the call.
People didn’t have a point of reference for immediate communication before cell phones so they structured their life differently and it was completely normal.
If they wanted to hang out with friends or go somewhere, they called well before the event or gathering and made plans via a landline phone. No driving and suddenly getting the urge to call or text a friend to meet up or seeing what they were doing, you did this ahead of time and it worked.
