Answer:

2.4× 10^6

Step-by-step explanation:

R = x^2/y = (3.8 × 10^5)^2 / 5.9 × 10^4

R = 14.4 ×10^10/ 5.9 × 10^4

R = 2.4× 10^6

Given : R = x²/y

x = 3.8 × 10⁵

y = 5.9 × 10⁴

To Find : R  in standard form

Solution:

scientific notation or Standard form

Very large and very small numbers can be expressed in standard form.

Standard form is also called scientific notation form

It is written in the form of c × 10ⁿ where  c > 1, c < 10, and n is an integer.

R = x²/y

x = 3.8 × 10⁵

x² = (3.8 × 10⁵  )² = 3.8² * (10⁵)²  = 14.44 * 10¹⁰

y = 5.9 × 10⁴

R = 14.44 * 10¹⁰ / 5.9 × 10⁴

=> R  = 2.4474576  * 10⁶

Value of R is  2.4474576  * 10⁶
