ST =1 unit. Find the coordinates of point T.​

Given : QS is median  drawn from the vertex Q on the side PR

T is a point on SQ, such that  ST =1 unit.  

To Find :  the coordinates of point T

Solution:

P= (3 , -1)

Q = (7 , -3)

R = (5 ,3 )

QS is median

Hence S is mid point of P & R

=> S = ( 4 , 1)

   Q = (7 , -3)

QS = √(7-4)² + (-3 - 1)²  = 5

QS =  5 unit

T is on QS

and ST = 1 unit

=> QT = 5 - 1 = 4 unit

=> T divides SQ in 1 : 4 Ratio

S = ( 4 , 1)   , Q = (7 , -3)

=> T = ( 1*7 + 4*4)/(1 + 4)  , ( 1 * - 3 + 4 * 1)/( 1 + 4)

=> T = ( 23/5 , 1/5)

coordinates of point T.

( 23/5 , 1/5)  or ( 4.6 , 0.2)
