on the basis of position, Meristems are divided into 3 types;

1.Apical meristems:found on apex of root and shoots .Division in apical meristems helps in growth in apical part of plant.

2 .Intercalary meristem:found in internodes and sheaths ,these were also part of apical meristems but they become differentiated due to growth in apical region ,they soon converted into permanent tissue.

3 lateral meristem:found in the edges of roots and shoots .They divide in a single plane in lateral direction and facilitate secondary growth of plants .example - Cambium and Cork cambium.
