Question :

Raahil has a certain number of chocolates; he gave 1/3 of the chocolate to his brother and 1/6 of the to his friend. He was left with 30 chocolates. How many chocolates did he give to each one?

Step-by-step explanation:

Sol.

Let the number of chocolates be x

⇒ x-(x/3 + x/6) = 30

⇒ x-3x/6 = 30

⇒x/2 = 30

⇒ x = 30 x 2

⇒ x = 60

So,

Raahil gave 20 chocolates to his brother as

⇒ x/3

⇒ 60/3

⇒ 20

And Raahil gave 10 chocolates to his friend,

⇒ x/6

⇒ 60/6

⇒ 10

check :

Chocolate with Raahil's brother + chocolates with his friends

= 20 + 30

= 30 chocolates
