In India , two main types of cultivating crops are there ->>Rabi and Kharif crops

These types of crops are sown at the beginning of the winter season (October-December ) and harvested by March or April.So, they are also known as winter crops.

{\bf{\green{Kharif\:crop}}}

These types of crops are sown at the beginning of south-west monsoon, during June or July. They are harvested after the monsoon in September or October. Therefore, they are known as summer crops.

There is another type of crop which are harvested in June.

Kharif crops are the crops which are sown at the beginning of the rainy season, e.g. between April and May.

Rabi crops are the crops that are sown at the end of monsoon or at the beginning of winter season, e.g. between September and October. ... Major Kharif crops are rice, maize, cotton, jowar, bajra etc.
