Rabindranath Tagore was a great poet, patriot, philosopher, humanist and painter. He was born on 7 May 1861 in Jor-Sanka, Calcutta, in his ancestral residence in the house of Maharishi Devendranath Tagore and Sarada Devi. He was the 14th child of his parents though different from the others. He received his proper education and knowledge about various subjects at home by private teachers.
