Rachict took 4 hours to complete the last 1/4 part of a journey at an average speed of 55 km /hr his average speed for the whole journey is 60 km/hr how long will it take to cover the first 3/4 part of his journey ?​

To find : How long will it take to cover the first 3/4 part of his journey ?

Solution : Let, total journey be x.

So, a/c to given data, Rachict took 4 hours to complete the last 1/4 part of " x " at speed of 55 km/hr

  • Distance = (1/4 * x) km = x/4 km
  • Time taken = 4 hour

➜ Speed = distance/time

➜ 55 = (x/4)/4

➜ 55 * 4 = x/4

➜ 220 = x/4

➜ x = 220 * 4

➜ x = 880 km

Hence, total journey is 880 km.

Now, a/c to given data, speed of the total journey is 60 km/hr. To find out, time taken to complete whole journey :

➜ Speed = distance/time

➜ 60 = 880/time

➜ time = 880/60

➜ time = 88/6

➜ time = 44/3 hour

Now, time taken to cover the first 3/4 part of journey.

➜ time taken = (44/3) - 4

➜ time taken = (44/3) - (12/3)

➜ time taken = (44 - 12)/3

➜ time taken = 32/3 hour or 10.67 hour.

Answer : Hence, the Rachict take 32/3 hour or 10.67 hour cover the first 3/4 part of his journey.
