Given:

✰ Principle ( P ) = Rs. 4000

✰ Amount ( A ) = Rs. 5200

✰ Rate ( R ) = 6%

To find:

✠ In how many years did her father gave money to her?

Solution:

Let's understand the concept first!

  • The money borrowed is called the principal.
  • The extra money paid for using lender's money is called interest.
  • The total money paid to the lender at the end of a specified period is called amount.

Amount = Principal + Interest

∴ Interest = Amount - Principal

Interest = (Principal × Rate × Time)/100

Therefore, comparing these two, we will find time. Putting the values and doing the requisite calculations.

Amount - Principal = (Principal × Rate × Time)/100

➛ 5200 - 4000 = (4000 × 6 × T)/100

➛ 1200 = (24000 × T)/100

➛ 1200 = 240 × T

➛ T = 1200/240

➛ T = 120/24

➛ T = 5 years

In 5 years her father gave money to her.
