The end of the chord that touches the circle when connected to the radius (o) forms an isosceles ∆
let the chord be ab
Also a perpendicular line (d) drawn to a chord ab bisects the chord into two equal parts
ab/2= 12cm/2= 6cm
in ∆ odb,
ob²= od²+db²
(10cm)²= od²+(6cm)² (ob is the radius)
od²= 100cm²-36cm²
od= √64cm²
= 8cm
