If the hypotenuse is c and the two legs are a & b then you've simpler formula for r, the in-radius: r = (a+b-c)/2 which is the same as r =ab/(a+b+c) for (a+b-c)/2 =ab/(a+b+c) if (a+b+c)(a+b-c)/2=ab or if [(a+b)²-c²]/2=ab or if [a²+b²+2ab-c²]/2 =ab, which is obviously true since a²+b²=c².
