Let the work done by Rahul be "x"
And as he does this job in 20 days,
The work done in one day is x / 20
As he does the work for 5 days , the total work he has done is
5 ( x / 20 ) => x / 4
Which mean the remaining work left is x - x/4 => 3x/4
So Arjun as he completes the work of 3x/4 in 12 days , we can get a proportion.
3x/4 : 12 :: x : ?days
Hence,
3x/4 * y = 12x ( assuming y = ? days in the above proportion )
So y = 12 * 4 * x / 3 * x
y = 16
hence Arjun alone takes 16 days to complete the work.
