Given :- Rahul bought 4 kg 90 g of apples, 2 kg 60 g of grapes and 5 kg 300 g of mangoes. He found that 1 kg 25 g of fruits were rotten.

To Find :- The total weight of fresh fruits Rahul had ?

Solution :-

given that,

→ Total weight of apples bought by rahul = 4 kg 90 gm = (4 × 1000 + 90) = 4000 + 90 = 4090 gm { since 1 kg = 1000 gm .}

→ Total weight of grapes bought by rahul = 2 kg 60 gm = (2 × 1000 + 60) = 2000 + 60 = 2060 gm

→ Total weight of mangoes bought by rahul = 5 kg 300 gm = (5 × 1000 + 300) = 5000 + 300 = 5300 gm

So,

→ Total weight of fruits bought by rahul = Total weight of apples + Total weight of grapes + Total weight of mangoes = 4090 + 2060 + 5300 = 11450 gm

now,

→ Total weight of fruits rotten = 1 kg 25 gm = (1 × 1000 + 25) = 1000 + 25 = 1025 gm .

then,

→ The total weight of fresh fruits left = Total weight of fruits bought by rahul - Total weight of fruits rotten = 11450 - 1025 = 10425 gm .

therefore,

→ 1000 gm = 1 kg

→ 1 gm = (1/1000) kg

→ 10425 gm = (1/1000) × 10425 = 10 kg , 425 gm (Ans.)

Hence, the total weight of fresh fruits Rahul had is equal to 10 kg , 425 gm .
