Given:

Rahul had 5 dozen bananas. he distributed 42 bananas in an orphanage.

To find:

What fraction of the total bananas was left with rahul

Solution:

From given, we have,

Rahul had 5 dozen bananas.

⇒ 5 × 12 = 60

∴ Rahul had 60 bananas

He distributed 42 bananas in an orphanage.

⇒ Out of 60, 42 bananas he distributed.

Therefore, the fraction of the total bananas were left with Rahul is given by,

= remaining bananas / total number of bananas

Fraction = (60 - 42) / 60 = 18/60

∴ The fraction of the total bananas were left with Rahul is 3/10
